Hostel facility is available only for women students.candidates who want hostel accommodation should obtain the application form at the time of admission to the college.

The mess caters to vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike.
A Visiting doctor from Apollo Hospitals would be avilable for weekly check up.

A well maintained ground adjacent to Adyar river is available for games and sports. Students are given coaching in football, cricket, volleyball, badminton and other athletic events. Kumararajah Rolling Trophy for Volley Ball has been instituted for inter Collegiate Volley Ball Tournaments. Special training is given to students to participate in sport / athletic events at national / state / regional level. Facilities for indoor games like table tennis, carrom, chess are available. Special summer coaching camps are organized for football, cricket and volley ball for boys. A Multipurpose Gymnasium is started for boys and girls in October 2006.

ROTARACT CLUB

“Fellowship through service” is the motto of the Rotaract. To realise this, the Rotaract club was started in October 2001 in our college to provide an opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and skill that will assist them in personality development, to address the physical and social needs of the society and to promote better relations between all people world wide through a framework of friendship and service.

The Rotaract Club is leaping into its usefuly nineth year of lively rotaraction. It has been rendering fruitful services by focussing its attention effectively on varied aspects like public health, values and development of “self”. We conform with the International status and canons of the Rotaract Club and try to inculcate in the minds of students a sense of fraternity and global understanding.The institution has been recognised for the services by the Rotary International.

N.S.S. - National Service Scheme of our college was started in November 1997 to promote social consciousness, sense of responsibility, discipline and dignity of labour among students. The programme lays greater emphasis on promotion of literacy. The N.S.S. not only provides an opportunity for students to serve the society but also helps them in their personality development. 

It has been functioning effectively by organising inter collegiate seminar on personality development. It has also focussed its attention in educating the youth on social evils like eve-teasing by organising a state level seminar. The N.S.S. unit of KRMMC firmly believes that the onus is on the students in developing the community and the Nation and to achieve such goals. More programmes and welfare schemes would be organised in future, for the betterment of oneself and his country. 

Every year ,the College presents a cultural Extravaganza "INDRADANUSH" which caters to the histrionic talents of the students.Various off-stage and on-stage events are conducted at inter department level exhibiting the talents of the students.

To appreciate the performances of the students in academics ,sports,cultural,extension services,participation in inter collegiate and other activities ,the following prizes,recognitions and awards are given.

Academics

An important constituent of The Indian Red Cross, The Youth Red Cross was started in the year 2003. It inculcates in the youth, an awareness in the area of health, hygiene, civic and human responsibilities, service and spirit of helpfulness to others. This three fold programme consists of (a) Protection of health and life (b) Service to sick and suffering (c) Promotion of national and international friendship to develop the mental and moral capabilities of the youth.

The YRC of KRMMC organize various projects like Eye camp, First Aid training, Environmental Surveys, visit to orphanages, hospitals, blind schools etc. The focus is always on community welfare

ACTIVITIES 2009-10

• NATIX -G was inaugurated by Mr. S. Sivakumar, Education officer, WWF India on 11.9.2009. A video clipping regarding Impact of global warming and Species extinction was screened. Off-stage Inter-departmental events like Poster presentation and Slogan writing was conducted and prizes were given away.


• On International Coastal clean- up day on 19.9.2009, 30 students participated in the Marina beach clean-up activity conducted by the Collegiate of Education, University of Madras.


• Tree plantation activity was organized by 'Siemens – Nizhal' group on 3.12.2009, at our College premises. 31 saplings were planted. A certificate of appreciation was given to college by Mrs. Shobha Menon, Nizhal trustee.


• Members of Nature club participated in other activity like cycle rally, formation Human chain at Marina Beach to create awareness to public regarding Climate Change.


• An Inter-departmental model / poster competitions were conducted on 8.1.2010 and prizes were given away.

The globalised era necessitates the starting of placement cell with the aim of not only finding placements in industries / MNCs / financial institutions but also takes effort to train them to acquire necessary skills. The placement cell of our college was started in the year 2002 with the aim of

• Providing information regarding career opportunities in MNCs / Industrial estates / High-tech Parks
• Keeping abreast with the latest trends in the recruiting process
• Preparing students to acquire soft skills
• Arranging Campus Interviews
• Assisting students in finding suitable placements.

The placement cell also focuses on enabling students to mould themselves as job provides rather than job seekers. A 20 hour certificate course on entrepreneurship development programme is conducted every year for the final year students of B.Com, B.B.A., and B.C.S. thereby motivating them to start ventures of their own.

A Journal of KRMMC “THE REACH” reaching out to the academic society is a pioneer venture by the college research committee, which provides an insight, creates an awareness and reiterates our commitment in appreciating the spirit of enquiry and research. The research committee of our college was started during the academic year 2004-05. It encourages faculty members to take up mini projects and publish articles. The Reach, Journal of Social Sciences, a priced edition intends to invite research articles from various colleges throughout Tamil Nadu. Steps are being taken to publish the journal bi-annually.

Co-operation of parent is essential for the progress of an institution. Hence, periodically parent-teachers meet is organised twice in a year to inform parents about the performance of their wards and also the progress of the institution. The interaction between parents and teachers results not only in the betterment of their wards' academic progression but also in their overall development.
